Walter - Domestic Shorthaired

Walter, the 3yo, Domestic Shorthaired, presented in practice after sustaining an injury to his tail.

It is unknown how the injury occurred, as Walter lives on a farm and spends a lot of his time outside. It is suspected that the injury was sustained by pull/entrapment. Unfortunately, Walter had lost over half of his tail, with the remaining part missing both hair and skin.

Radiographs were advised to check for other potential injuries and uncover the severity of his remaining tail damage. Luckily, the rays showed that no other injuries were sustained, however it was decided that the remaining part of Walter's tail were to be amputated.

The amputation surgery, and recovery were a success. Walter has since visited for post op checks, and his wound is healing brilliantly! His owners report that he is doing well and is back to his normal mischievous self!!
